A Single Mom's Honest Online Dating Profile

If you have ever had the "pleasure" of being single as an adult, I'm sure you have seen an online dating profile. There can be a few problems with online dating, like the fact that many people don't feel the need to be completely honest. How does this differ from face to face dating you might ask? Well, that is a good question that I don't really have an answer to. Honesty is a tricky quality to find these days, especially if someone isn't completely happy with who they are. We all want to put the best versions of ourselves out there, but if we aren't honestt then how can we expect to find a real relationship? While I may not be ready to put my picture on a dating site just yet, I think it would be great if it was honest and a bit blunt just like me. So, if a single mom of 2 young kids (me for example) were to write an honest online dating profile, it might look something like this:
Age:
"Old" if you ask my kids, "just past my prime" if you ask my parents, and "more than 30, but less than 40...I stopped counting" if you ask me
Build:
Well, I stopped fitting into my jeans so now I only wear leggings. Does that qualify as "fit" or "full figured?"
Favorite Hobbies:
Going to the bathroom alone, watching the DVR after the kids go to bed, drinking a glass of wine after the kids go to bed, taking a quiet shower after the kids go to bed...see a pattern?
Dream Date:
Sitting in a quiet restaurant and getting to actually eat my dinner without having to 1. break up a fight, 2. force feed a child, 3. pick up food off of the floor, 4. apologize to the waiter, or 5. share my meal with everyone at the table.
Most Recent Book You Read:
Probably something by Dr. Seuss
Most Recent Movie You Watched:
An animated Disney movie (actually my favorites) or an entire season of my kids' favorite show on DVD
Education:
Bachelor's in Early Education & English, 7 years of life experience being a mom/counselor/maid/cook/chauffeur/coach/teacher/personal shopper
Employment:
I am a blogger and publisher of 2 websites, as well as a mom of 2 awesome kids. If you think I just sit around at home and writing about my feelings on the computer all day, do us both a favor and move to the next profile. I work hard at everything I do and hope to find someone who is equally as dedicated.

What honest thing could you write about yourself?

My dating profile would probably look a lot like yours. Thank goodness I am not on the market or else those boys would have to fight over me. LOL!

I think if I was single this would be my profile for sure! I can’t imagine dating in this day in age.

EEK! I loved this and laughed out loud. I would write: Retired but still employed. Forgot how to have fun.

I wouldn’t even want to attempt a dating profile. My mom was a single mom for a long time, and I have no idea how she ever found energy to go on a date!

This is too funny and so honest. I can totally relate. Sometimes, as a Mom, I forget to have fun too. I love that you’re sharing your experiences with us- good or bad.

I love this! The last time I was single was when I was 17. If I was ever single again, I wouldn’t know where to start! I definitely think honesty is the best policy but not everyone seems to agree!

Girl, I love this! Honest but still funny! I’m not a mom, but I’m a nanny and totally agree with all of what you said (esp. books and movies). Who has time to count age, anyway?

This was brilliant! Loved the honest post! Mine would get no responses if I was super honest. Cannot cook, doesn’t like to clean, needs 100% of your attention at all times, has expensive taste 😉

I would probably be very honest about the fact that I haven’t dated in many years. The dating game has changed so much since before I got married almost twenty years ago.

Haha this is too funny – I absolutely love your honesty! I can’t imagine how busy one’s life must be as a single mom! I have a difficult enough time just taking care of my cat and I! XD

I think being 100% honest is the best way to go! Whoever it is that you may end up with will eventually find out anyway so it’s best to save the time and energy and get it all out onto the table now! Hey, we aren’t getting any younger!

I think I would be brutally honest if I made an online profile. I’ve been single for some time but have never considered online dating. I know some who have though and are happily married now.

Honesty is so important especially once you’ve been burned before. I’m not sure I could trust what people put unless it was straight to the point!

Hahaha! Can I add to say that honesty is the best policy! This looks like a very honest dating profile. Dating time now is completely different than when I was single 2 decades ago. It seems online dating is the norm now.
