Magic Sketch
What Comes in the Box
  • LCD Magic Sketch Writing Screen featuring Colorburst
  • Protective cover and template holder
  • 1 Writing stylus
  • 3 double ended texture tools with 6 unique tips:
    • yellow spatula
    • orange tool
    • green tool
  • 60 template stencil sheets (20 learning, 20 art, 20 game)
  • 1 roller with 3 stamps
Our review samples included a total of 30 double-sided templates for a total of 60 activities, as well as a textured roller, and 3 stamps. The Magic Sketch is the same shape and size as the original Boogie Boards but with neon colors and a translucent screen. The border of the Magic Sketch is bright green with the LCD erase button centered on the top. The LCD screen features Boogie Board’s Colorburst mode which provides a multi-colored rainbow effect when you write and draw on it. The bottom of the board has a spot to house the stylus when you aren't using it (excellent to keep it from getting lost). Magic Sketch The Magic Sketch board also comes with a light blue protective cover. Slide one of the 18 templates between the cover and Magic Sketch, and trace until your heart's content! When they aren't using it, the cover can be snapped onto the front of the Magic Sketch board for protection.  With so many accessories and templates, the Magic Sketch will keep your kids entertained for hours at home or on trips. We have taken ours on road trips and long airplane rides, and the kids always have fun with them.
How to Use
The Magic Sketch is so easy to use, even my 3 year old has a great time with it. Just select the stylus or tool you want to use, and start writing or drawing on the surface. There is no need for erasers or wipes. When you are done, just press the button and the screen will be cleared. The templates are simple to use also. Slide a template between the cover and board, or unsnap the back cover tray to place the template, then snap the Magic Sketch back in place. You definitely want to unsnap the back cover to remove the template, otherwise they can get bent or ripped when eager little hands are pulling them out. Don't want to use a template? Leave the back cover attached and write or draw freehand.
Why We Love It
The Boogie Board has been popular to save paper when my kids want to doodle, and now the Magic Sketch is a staple in our house. It is durable and water resistant, which we all know is important if little hands are going to be holding it. The translucent screen gives it a variety of uses. Little ones can practice tracing basic shapes and letters, while older kids can enjoy tracing pictures of their favorite characters. As often as we travel, we always have one in our bag because the kids never get tired of finding new ways to use it. At restaurants, we can pull it out of my purse for a quick game of tick-tac-toe or hang-man while we wait for our food to get there. Take a step away from electronics that alienate your family, and come together over the Magic Sketch! Magic Sketch
Battery
The Magic Sketch has an average battery life of 7 years. As a parent, I love not having to worry about replacing batteries all the time.

I love this Magic Sketch Kit, when our kids were little we did a lot of long car trips and this would have been the ideal item to keep them amused! This would also make a great gift.

I haven’t seen this before now. My daughter loves to draw, and is constantly doodling in the car on scratch paper when she forgets her notebook. This is awesome!

Your kids really seem to love that magic sketch. I am older so my kids used old fashioned doodle pads and pen and paper. I will show this to my family so they can decide.

I used to go through notebooks like crazy doodling, so I’m glad my kids have this option to save paper.

This is great! It would be ideal for my kids, especially when we’re traveling. These are a big step up from the old Etch-a-Sketch!

This looks great. It is definitely something my 3 year old would use. She has gotten very into drawing and doing “homework” like her older siblings but can’t be trusted with actual markers or pens.

That reminds me of the thing we used to draw on as kids. Then, we’d lift the sheet and start over – but it never failed that every time you used it, it got damaged a little. I love that this is an upgraded type of that. My kids would have loved this.
